Inquiry Based Learning 

Puffy Paint 

This activity was focused on the aspect of art and sensory. The children used the puffy paint to create their artwork. When the art dried the children felt the texturized paint. 

Primary Coloured Bath Bombs 

This activity was based off of an inquiry made by a child. The premise of the activity was to drop two of the bath bombs in warm water to see what secondary colour the water changes 

Balloon Tennis

In this activity, the children used fly swatters to hit balloons back and forth together, this was based on a previous inquiry of seeing how things float

Practical Materials I Created

Sensory Board

  • A canvas board filled with different materials that differ in texture, size, and numerical value for the children to experience a variety of aspects all in one place

 

  • Materials on board based on to help develop fine motor skills

 

  • Learning material works on cognitive development (numeracy, literacy and problem solving)

Monster Stomping Feet

  • Contain a pair of colorful sturdy foam feet attached that represent ‘monsters’ feet with elastic ropes for the children to hold while standing on them

 

  • This material is based off of gross motor skills to help the child become confident with their coordination
